LUCKY MUTT STRUT - MaxFund will host its 26th annual Lucky Mutt Strut on June 7 in Denver’s Cheesman Park, rain or shine. The annual 5K walk/run and fundraiser will host runners, walkers and their pets for a morning of exercise, food and prizes. For those who aren’t feeling up to a 5K, a shorter route will also be available.
Check-in and day-of registration will open at 7 a.m.; runners will begin the first leg of the event at 9 a.m., followed by walkers at 9:15 a.m. Upon crossing the finish line, participants will be given a chance to enjoy a variety of local vendor booths, raffle prizes, food trucks and more.
“The Lucky Mutt Strut is one of MaxFund’s most important events,” said Nanci Suro, MaxFund co-founder and director. “It’s a chance for us to connect with Denver-area animal lovers for a great cause."
Pre-event registration is available online at(www.firstgiving.com/20640/luckymuttstrut). Registration fees are $30 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under; teams of five can register for the discounted price of $100. Registration includes access to the event and vendors, as well as a t-shirt. Day of registration is available for $35 per person.
Participants may also select the “Lazy Dogz and Sleepy Catz” option for a $30 fee, and sleep in for the cause.
STRAY CAT STRUT - A stay in a San Francisco cottage will be among the items, along with other vacation packages and one-of-a-kind items, offered at Divine Feline's 8th Annual Stray Cat Strut from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 at the Wellshire Event Center in Denver.

ADOPT A SHELTER CAT MONTH - The Cat Care Society is celebrating ''Adopt A Shelter Cat Month’' in June with special reduced fees for all adult cats (six months through nine years). It will be $45 per adult cat or $75 per pair of adult cats. Information:(www.catcaresociety.org)
DONATIONS WILL BE MATCHED - Several friends of the Dumb Friends League have provided a dollar-for-dollar match of gifts from donors up to a total of $140,000. Every gift received between now and June 15 will have double the impact for the animals in the League's care.
NEW ADOPTION CENTER - Denkai Animal Sanctuary(www.Denkaisanctuary) has finalized the purchase of an adoption center building. The facility at 215 First Street in Eaton is attached to Denkai's current low-cost veterinary clinic. The facility is the third property now owned by the non profit organization in Weld County.
Among other things, it will provide resources for members of the community in need regarding animal surrender and adoption, and provide an adoption location for rescued animals both locally and throughout the United States.
YAPPY HOUR - Weld County Humane Society's annual Yappy Hour will be held Saturday, June 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Twin Rivers Park in Greeley. There will be appetizers, live music by the The Sophisticats and beer and wine vendors. Unlimited water for the dogs. Food will be provided by Buffalo Wild Wings and Texas Roadhouse. Also, the humane society is teaming up again with Fullmoon Customs for the 10th annual Hogs for Dogs Poker Run on Saturday, June 7. Registration is $25 and includes a pancake breakfast, t-shirt, BBQ and poker hand.
