Each week during the high school sports season the Eastern Maine High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc @ easternmainesportsblog@yahoo.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.
2012/2013 Winter season- Week 6- January 7th-January 12th
Female
Max McHugh- Central- The four time athlete of the week winner led her school to a basketball and soccer state championships. Scored 100 career goals in her high school soccer career. She is also her class president and valedictorian. McHugh scored 10 points in a 42-15 victory over Bucksport on Tuesday night. On Wednesday afternoon McHugh had surgery on a broken leg she suffered in a car accident on Wednesday morning. She also suffered multiple other injuries.

Delani Bennett- PCHS- Basketball- Scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in 65-48 victory over Foxcroft. Scored 15 points and pulled down 16 rebounds in 38-35 victory over PVHS. Recorded 25 points and 18 rebounds in 57-36 win over Valley

Jillian Woodward- Orono- Basketball- Recorded 23 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in 58-41 victory over Penquis. Recorded 18 points, 18 rebounds and four blocks in 56-37 victory over Old Town. Recorded 18 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in 41-26 win over Central.
Parise Rossignol- Van Buren- Basketball- Scored 42 points in 65-42 win over Madawaska. Scored 15 points in 64-34 loss to Washburn.
Morgan Thompson- Schenck- Basketball- Scored 30 points including shooting 8-11 from three point range in 78-30 victory over Stearns. Scored 21 points in 51-42 win over Mattanawcook.
Kristin Thompson- Schenck- Basketball- Scored 21 points in 78-30 victory over Stearns
Megan Ireland- Presque Isle- Basketball- Recorded 24 points and 10 steals in 80-22 victory over Caribou
Morgan Card- Ellsworth- Basketball- Scored 15 points including hitting the game winning three point shot with 22 seconds left in 44-41 victory over Washington Academy.
Mackenzie Foss- Washington Academy- Basketball- Recorded 29 points (3 3-pointers and 4-4 from FT line), seven rebounds, three steals and one block in 55-54 loss to Calais.
Taylor Pelkey- Stearns- Basketball- Scored 30 points in 53-26 victory over Searsport.
Jesse Bell- PCHS- Basketball- Scored 17 points including five 3-pointers in 65-48 victory over Foxcroft.
Alex Speed- PCHS- Basketball- Scored 13 points in 65-48 victory over Foxcroft. Scored 14 points in 38-35 victory over PVHS.
Mikayla Dow- PCHS- Basketball- Scored 12 points in 65-48 victory over Foxcroft.
