Mavs fall in tough loss to defending champs

Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavs started their final push towards the playoffs with a tough loss hosting Miami Tuesday night. They were playing their first game since the All-star break with hopes of stealing a win from the Big 3 and the Heat.

The Heat enjoyed an early lead and stayed ahead by a slim margin all the way to halftime. In the second half the Mavs went ahead leading by as much as 6 points and holding the lead until mid-way through the 4th quarter when the Miami regained the lead and kept it outscoring the Mavs 33-21 in that final quarter. The final score was 117-106.

LeBron lead all scorers with 42 points while grabbing 9 boards and dishing out 6 assists. Dirk, after playing just 8 minutes in the All-star game, lead the Mavs with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists.

The Mavs are now 32-23 and hold the 8th seed in the Western Conference Playoff picture, just 1 game ahead of Memphis. Their next game will be in Philadelphia to play the struggling 76ers (15-40), losers of 9 straight on Friday, tip-off is at 6pm.
