An Albertville woman is hospitalized after being attacked by a Rottweiler Tuesday.
It happened around 1 p.m. in the 400 block of Turnpike Road. According to Lt. Heath Thomas, of the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, a woman in the process of moving was loading the dog into her vehicle when it pulled away from its leash.
The Rottweiler went to a neighbor's house, where it attacked a 53-year-old woman, biting her repeatedly on the arm, wrist and elbow, Thomas said.
The dog continued to act aggressively after it was captured and was later put down, he added.
The victim was treated at the scene before being transported by helicopter to Huntsville Hospital.
Thomas said the dog was euthanized and its body will be sent to a lab for rabies testing this week.
He expects to release additional details about the victim and her condition Wednesday.
