Selected by readers in the annual Readers Choice Awards, Maui, Hawaii has now achieved a record 20 straight years of winning the prestigious title as The Best Island In The World. Four other Hawaiian islands made the Top 10 list, with the island of Kauai being named the second best island in the world.

Oahu was voted the eighth best island, and The Big Island of Hawaii was voted the tenth best island in the world.

"Maui is still small and un-congested, but large enough to have world-class resorts and hotels," notes resident Liz Boney. "It's the ideal island to relax, snorkel, watch whales during migration season, and enjoy the great variety in landscapes."

The Maldives were voted the third best island, with Kiawah Island in South Carolina and Bora Bora in the French Polynesian Island chain finishing the top 5 respectively.
