Matthew Morrison will star opposite Cameron Diaz in the Lionsgate film “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.”
Morrison, who is best known for his role on “GLEE,” has just signed on to join the cast that includes Jennifer Lopez, Brooklyn Decker, Elizabeth Banks, Anna Kendrick, Chace Crawford and Rob Huebel.
Morrison will play Evan, Jules’s (Diaz) partner on a celebrity dance show. When Jules discovers she is pregnant, the couple tries to work it out while living bi-coastal lives. The film also follows three other couples who experience the thrills of having a baby.
“What to Expect” is based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Heidi Murkoff. It sold 16 million copies and has been on the bestseller list for over 500 weeks.
The film, which will be directed by Kirk Jones (“Nanny McPhee”), will begin shooting this summer. Its scheduled release date is May 11, 2012. Heather Hach wrote the script, and Shauna Cross (“Whip It”) rewrote it.
Diaz, who attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School, recently starred in the comedy “Bad Teacher” opposite Justin Timberlake. Her upcoming project is the film “Gambit” starring alongside Colin Firth, Alan Rickman and Stanley Tucci. It will hit theaters next year.
