Topless Robot reported today on some new pictures that Mattel has provided of upcoming action figures based on the 1960s television series “Batman.” The series starred Adam West and a cadre of established actors playing his famous rogue’s gallery. Mattel previously announced an all-new toy line based on the vintage show.
The new photos reveal for the first time the upcoming DC Classic TV Moment Action Figure 2-pack featuring Batman and Robin. This will be your only opportunity to score an authentic figure of Burt Ward as Robin the Boy Wonder. The set ingeniously comes with a portion of the wall the superhero team is seen climbing up in the series’ opening credits. This display can be hung on a wall or placed flat on a surface to recreate how the scene was filmed.
A second set is mentioned in the solicitation in Previews magazine, but its contents are not listed.
The final lineup for the first series of individual 6” scale figures was also revealed. Mattel’s first series will include Batman (complete with Batusi hands), the Riddler, the Penguin, the Joker, Catwoman and Batman (with radioactive cowl). Only the first three of those have been shown so far. It is unclear at this time what has happened to the previously shown Surfer Batman action figure.
Fans can pick up all of these releases up at their local comic or specialty shop this June. Everything should also be available at mass retail shortly before that.
UPDATE 9/23: Mattel has released pictures of Cesar Romero as the Joker and a SDCC exclusive Batusi Batman set, which have been added to the slideshow.
