Mattanawcook wins season opener at Central

CORINTH-- Trysten Pelkey scored nine points and grabbed ten rebounds to lead the Mattanawcook Lynx boys basketball team to a 38-37 season opening victory over Central on Friday evening.

The game had 12 lead changes, including six in the fourth quarter.

Pelkey gave the Lynx (1-0) a lead they would not give back with 3:58 remaining in the final quarter.

Nick Haynes added seven points for the Lynx, Gunner Maxwell and Carter Ward chipped in with five points each.

Jordn Smith led the Red Devils (0-1)with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Kyle Ham chipped in with eight points. Freshman Caleb Shaw added seven points, four rebounds, and two steals in his first regular season game.

Grant Poulin scored six points for Central.
