Matt Smith of ‘Dr. Who’ picks up best Sci-Fi actor at Scream Awards 2011 (video)

Dr. Who was honored with one of the TV series characters winning an award on Tuesday night during the annual Scream Awards 2011 airing on Spike TV. Winning the Best Science Fiction Actor, Matt Smith got his first Spike TV Scream Award for his character in the television series. The award was presented by Paul Wesley of "Vampire Diaries" and "Parenthood" actress Erika Christensen.

Matt Smith, well versed in his character, seemed quite delighted to be chosen for the honor. Sharing a moment with the fans, his thanks were given to the support of the show as well as to him individually. 

"Thank you very much. It is a pleasure to be here and a privilege to be in this category,” said Matt Smith at the podium accepting his award. “It’s groovy to be here. Have fun."

The Scream Awards is a traditional award ceremony highlighted the best of science fiction, horror and fantasy genres. Held in Universal Studios, only the best came to appreciate the night of screams.
