Matt Schaub has expressed to the press that he is ready to lead the Oakland Raiders for the 2014 season. Schaub made sure to state that he has the experience to lead and that is exactly what he will do in Oakland.
As reported by InsideBayArea.com on Thursday, Schaub told reporter Jerry McDonald, an NFL writer, that he has already set the course in leading Oakland for next season. He added that a quarterback has to take control of the huddle, and he has done enough of that to get things going with his new team, according to Schaub.
The new Oakland quarterback also told McDonald that he is building his relationships with the new guys. Schaub pointed out that after their workout, him and the guys go bowling or go to baseball games together. The ex-Houston quarterback claims that he is having a great time so far in the off-season with all his new teammates.
Matt Schaub also welcomed rookie quarterback Derek Carr. Schaub stated that it can be hard for rookies, especially when dealing with the expectations that are expected from them. Schaub told McDonald, that Carr was welcomed in the locker room and was assured that help from everyone will be available, especially from Schaub. The ex-Texans QB made it clear that he told Carr that is was going to be hard work but fun at the same time with a lot of support.
When asked about his receiving corps, Schaub stipulated that they are working hard. The competition between the receivers in Oakland is tough right now. The new quarterback stated that the competition will only make the receiving team for the Oakland Raiders even better next season.
In the last question, Schaub was asked if he was as healthy as before. Last year, Schaub sustained an ankle injury. Schaub, of course, stated that he was as good as ever.
With this attitude, Matt Schaub truly displayed a positive attitude in which he will be ready to lead the Oakland Raiders for the 2014 season. The only thing that can be said by the fans is “just win baby!” Keep it up Schaub and the best of luck to you.
