The troubles for former WWE and TNA wrestler Matt Hardy continued this past Monday. TMZ broke the story yesterday that Hardy was arrested on Monday at Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Driving While Intoxicated charge, this is the second time in past few weeks that Hardy has been arrested on this charge.
Hardy was pulled over Monday at the airport after “erratic” driving after his car almost hit two or three drivers on separate occasions. When officers asked him to exit the car, Hardy did not put the car in park. Airport police reported that Hardy’s speech was “slow and slurred” and that he denied drinking before driving. Hardy was asked to take a field sobriety test which includes the walk-the-line test which "after taking two steps, Mr. Hardy lost his balance and failed to stay on the line." A breathalyzer test was performed on site, which Hardy passed but the police officers on the scene called on a “drug recognition officer” to perform further testing. Hardy said he was at the airport to pick his girlfriend. Last year, Hardy started dating female wrestling personality, Playboy model, and Sirius XM host Reby Sky.

This recent incident is the latest string of disturbing and dangerous behavior by Matt Hardy in the past few months. On August 20th, Hardy was arrested in Nort Carolina for another DWI charge after crashing his sports car into a tree. Hardy was not seriously injured in the accident.
TNA Wrestling released him the same day as he was already suspended by the company. On August 24th, Hardy visited the hospital after a fall in his North Carolina home.
The drama did not stop for the former WWE United States Champion when he posted a controversial Youtube video on August 30th, where he implied he was going to die soon or commit suicide. Fayetteville Police Department received numerous emergency calls after the video was posted, and Hardy denied he was in any harm when Police visited his home. The video was quickly removed from the web and Hardy apologized for the hoax claiming he was ‘reborn’ and that the ‘old Matt Hardy’ was gone. Hardy made an apology video which you can view on the left side of this page.
"Goodbye, World... My time here is Almost complete... I only have a few hours & minutes... I loved you all... Regardless of how you felt about me... I'll miss you all... September 23, 1974 - August 31, 2011." - Matt Hardy on his controversial ‘suicide’ Youtube video.
Hardy had previously used his popular Youtube channel last year, to post a string of anti-WWE videos while he was still under contract with the company. Hardy demanded in these videos that he get released from his WWE contract. Soon Hardy got his wish and was released. Many wrestlers and fans criticized Hardy for using the videos to embarrass himself and get unnecessary attention.
Matt Hardy making a comeback in pro wrestling with TNA or WWE now seems highly unlikely.
Jeff Hardy, Matt’s brother is also resolving a felony drug charge from 2009. You can read the details about Jeff Hardy’s plea deal which will get him a limited jail sentence and parole agreement. You can read about that story here.
