As "America's Best Dance Crew" unfortunately ended its final season last June, the popularity of the show has catapulted its previous winners into stardom with guest judging and dance workshops worldwide.
Matt "Dumbo" Nguyen of Poreotics, winning crew of Season 5, was spotted in the Philippines last Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Mall of Asia Arena guest judging for the biggest dance competition in the island nation, Skechers Street Dance Battle 8.
With over 26 crews consisting of high school and college dance teams, Nguyen along with other popular Filipino dancers from top entertainment shows had their work cut out for them. Nguyen was excited as it was his first time in the Philippines to judge an event. Interviewed by Pacific Rim Video/Front Row Feature correspondent Trizza Tolentino, Dumbo said, "I'm pretty excited to see some new and exciting Filipino raw talent."
The other guest judges included Jon Supan, Gelai of G-Force, Kenjohns Serrano, Prince Paltu-ob, and Wilson Ong of Whiplash Dance Company.
Hosting the show were Gab Valenciano and DJ Sam YG. The pair definitely knew how to entertain the crowd and had their own dance battle as they both had teams representing from the respective college alma mater. The duo also expressed to Tolentino that the crews here have so much creativity. Sam YG added, "Everytime there's something new. When you've thought you've seen it all, they're gonn pull up something and you're going to say, "'Wow!'"
Opening up the dance competition were the introduction of the competing teams then a collaboration performance of The Crew (gold medal winners of Hip Hop International World Adult Dance Competiton), The A Team, Legit Status and Tha Project. Each of these teams have competed internationally at the biggest dance event in the world, Hip Hop International, held every year in Las Vegas. The producers of Hip Hop International are also the co-creators of "America's Best Dance Crew."
