Matt Damon as Aquaman in Zach Snyder's 'Justice League'?

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were overnight sensations thanks to Good Will Hunting, in which they starred, wrote, and received an Oscar.

Since then, the duo became action heroes in their own right, with Damon as amnesiac assassin/spy Jason Bourne in three blockbuster films ... and Affleck as blind attorney Matt Murdock and his Man Without Fear alter-ego Daredevil, which introduced him to future wife Jennifer Garner, who played love interest Elektra in the 2003 film and the 2005 spin-off.

Now, with Ben playing the Dark Knight in Man of Steel sequel Batman vs. Superman, his BFF may not be far behind, as Access Hollywood via The Wrap reports that Matt is rumored to be a contender to play Aquaman in director Zach Snyder's Justice League. Jason Momoa, aka 2011's Conan the Barbarian, is also rumored to be in the front-runner for the role.

While still on the B-list of superheroes, Aquaman has been known on the small screen thanks to a recurring role on the CW's Smallville with Alan Ritchson as Arthur "A.C." Curry. There were plans of a spin-off with Justin Hartley in the role, but it wasn't picked up as a series, and Hartley joined Smallville as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, founder and leader of the League, whose members included Aquaman, Victor Stone/Cyborg, Bart Allen/Impulse, Dinah Lance/Black Canary, Chloe Sullivan/Watchtower, and future Superman Clark Kent.

Batman vs. Superman comes out May 6, 2016.
