Actor Matt Dallas, 30, best know for his starring role in ABC’s Family’s “Kyle XY”, announced via Twitter yesterday that he is engaged to long time boyfriend musician Blue Hamilton. Matt Dallas tweeted, “Starting off the year with a new fiancé, @bluehamilton. A great way to kick off 2013!”, according to the Daily Mail. Dallas joins a growing number of celebrities who are stepping out of the closet without much of the fanfare, nor backlash, that once accompanied such a move.
Matt included a photo of his fiancé, along with their shared pup lounging on a sofa. Brandon “Blue” Hamilton is a musician who counts producing and writing credits on Justin Bieber’s “All I Want is You” and “Born to Be Somebody” among his accomplishments.
The 25 year-old Hamilton also renovates houses in his down time, and is said to be a staunch equal rights campaigner and avid environmentalist. Dallas started out as a model for five years, and also had a role in the short-lived TV series “Eastwick”.
Matt can next be seen in the upcoming film “Thunder Road”, which chronicles three soldiers returning from duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some of his other credits include starring with Hilary Duff in the 2010 romcom “Beauty And The Briefcase”.
Matt is also close friends with pop-star Katy Perry, and even starred in the music video of her hit single “Thinking Of You”. Matt joins a growing list of famous people who have revealed their sexuality in a “nonchalant” manner.
Singers Ricky Martin and Frank Ocean, actors Matt Bomer, Jim Parsons, Neil Patrick Harris and Zachary Quinto, and newsmen Thomas Roberts, Sam Champion, Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper have all recently acknowledged their sexuality publicly without much notice.
Matt Dallas' sexual orientation has been speculated about for several years, according to Zap2it. He was rumored to have dated actor Jonathan Bennett of "Mean Girls" in the past, but never officially came out until now.
