Actor Matt Bomer is the latest celebrity to speak highly of “Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller, who is the latest celebrity to come out as gay. According to E! News on August 22, Boomer called Miller’s decision to come out “bold” and “incredibly classy”.
Bomer, who came out as gay in 2012, knows how it feels first hand to come out while in the spotlight. But the way Miller came out makes him more respectable in Boomer’s eyes.
“I am really proud of him. Its very reflective of his amazing character.”
Miller came out in a letter written to the director of the St. Petersburg International Film Festival. In the letter Miller declined an invitation to attend because of Russia’s anti-gay laws and felt, as a gay man, he wouldn’t feel right participating in any activities in the country in a celebratory way.
The nature of Miller’s response drew praise from GLAAD and various celebrities, including Lady Gaga, Andy Cohen, Ellen Degeneres, Tilda Swinton amongst others. Each understands the importance of speaking up for what they believe is right.
Bomer has been very active in the LGBT community since coming out, so he also knows the commitment it takes to take a stand for or against something important to him. The 34-year-old star of USA’s “White Collar” has received a Activism Award for his activism in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Miller is certain to receive similar praise for the stand he has taken in his stand for human rights.
