Mathew Knowles has been speaking out quote a bit lately about his daughter Beyonce's marriage to Jay Z. As if the On The Run tour wasn't already hyped up enough, Beyonce's dad and former manager is claiming that the incident in the elevator and the divorce rumors are all fabricated as a way to sell more concert tickets. According to Time on Friday, Mathew Knowles recently told a Houston radio station that he believes Beyonce and Jay Z's recent drama is all just a scheme to create a buzz about their tour.
Do consider the source though, since Beyonce's dad was fired as her manager around the same time that her mother, Tina Knowles, filed for divorce. Mathew is speaking pretty candidly about the affairs of his daughters when Solange, Beyonce and Jay Z all released an identical statement about the elevator incident that called it a "private matter."
Beyonce recently addressed the elevator incident, albeit vaguely, in her new "Flawless" remix with Nicki Minaj. Beyonce sang "Of course sometimes s*** go down...When it's a billion dollars on an elevator." Beyonce is referring to the combined net worth of herself and Jay Z. Although rumors that Solange's attack on Jay Z were fueled by his cheating on Beyonce, that has not been confirmed and no one in that camp is talking about it.
Mathew Knowles is calling the drama surrounding Beyonce and Jay Z a "jedi mind trick." He says it's pretty obvious the whole thing was just a publicity stunt that has very successfully earned them all a lot more money. When pressed about his comments, Mathew Knowles told 104.1 KRBE, "Everyone's talking about it. Ticket sales went up. Solange's album sales went up 200 percent!" Then Mathew reminded everyone that he still manages Destiny's Child and shamelessly hinted that there may be a reunion tour within the next year.
