Another Friday, which means another showdown under the lights. This game was unlike any other as both teams got to play at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. The Mater Dei Monarchs were looking to keep their perfect record going against the Servite Friars.
As many expected Mater Dei dominated in the first half. First quarter the Monarch’s marched up the field. Senior running back Justin Allen weaved through defenders on runs of 22 and 41 yards and scored a Monarch touchdown. Chase Forrest found Jonathan Lockett for a 73-yard touchdown reception. He would find him again on the slant route for another Monarch touchdown making the score 21-7. Servite was able to get on board just before the half but things did not look to good as the Monarch’s led 21-7 going into half.
Monarch’s Justin Allen would start the half blazing up the sideline to score a 72-yard touchdown. Servite would attempt a comeback as they scored again in the 3rd quarter. Servite would score again with the help of determined quarterback Travis Waller in the 4th bringing the score to 21-28. The Monarchs defense would hold on tight to help the Monarch’s stay perfect.
The Monarch’s improve to 6-0 and the Friars become 3-3. Impressive Monarch’s on the night were; quarterback Chase Forrest who was 9 for 12 for 175 yards, running back Justin Allen rushed for 228 yards and 2 touchdowns and wide receiver Jonathan Lockett who caught for 145 yards and had two touchdowns. The Mater Dei Monarchs visit JSerra Catholic School next week, while the Servite Friars host Santa Margarita.
