The CSUN men's golf team finished dead last in the Jones Invitational Tournament hosted by Pepperdine University on Tuesday. The Matadors followed up a solid day of play on Monday with a poor performance on Tuesday racking up team scores of 321/310/316 over the tournament's final three rounds. The scores dropped them out of an 11th-place tie with Lipscomb and into 12th place out of the twelve participating teams. The Matadors ended up finishing a total 13 strokes behind 11th place.
Fellow Cal State University, San Diego State emerged as the eventual champions of the tournament after overtaking Monday's leader, USC, with a 8-over 292 performance in the final round, tying a tournament record. Other Cal State Universities, San Jose State and Cal State Fullerton finished 8th and 5th respectively. Complete standings for the tournament can be found here.
The 12th place finish was the second worst finish of the year for the Matadors. They will look turn things around and get their season back on track on March 3rd when they begin play at the Del Walker Intercollegiate at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach.
