Josh Marks, the season three finalist from MasterChef, was found dead on a street in Chicago. The Daily News reported on October 12, 2013, that Marks died from an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound. Josh Marks was 26 years old.
Marks was the runner-up to Christine Ha in season three of the popular TV competitive cooking show, MasterChef. Gordon Ramsay is one of the judges on the show. Season Three aired in 2012 on Fox.
Health and legal problems
Family members at the scene said that Marks suffered from bi-polar disorder. Apparently, his health issues were not well managed. In July 2013, he went on a rampage at the University of Chicago. Marks claimed that he was possessed by Chef Gordon Ramsay. The incident resulted in Marks’ arrest on three felony charges: two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer and one count of trying to disarm a police officer. His next court appearance was scheduled for sometime in November 2013.
Josh Marks shot himself on a Longwood Manor street, on Friday evening. A revolver was found next to his body. Marks was bleeding from the head and pronounced dead at the scene.
Reality TV seems to bring out the worst in people. It is sad that Josh Marks could not get his medical condition under control. He was a talented cook that showed a lot of promise.
