The Master Chorale of South Florida has once again proved that they are one of the elite choral ensembles in the region after their triumphant return as the backup choir for the famed tenor Andrea Bocelli during his lovely Valentine’s Day Concert at the Bank Atlantic Center. During the sold out performance the choir showed off their talent during such well known compositions as “The Hallelujah Chorus” From Handel’s Messiah, “Cecilia Valdez” with Soprano Eglise Gutierrez and “Nessun Dorma” and “Finale” from Puccini’s Turandot with Andrea Bocelli. The chorus was truly magnificent but they are not resting on their laurels, immediately after the concert they have begun preparations towards their upcoming spring concert series entitled “Royal Flush”. The forthcoming series will betheir second endeavor with newly appointed Artistic Director Dr. Karen Kennedy along with associate conductor Jeffrey S. Stern (Who prepared them for the Bocelli concert) and returning accompanist Matthew Steynor. The choir feeling jubilant and excited after their recent achievements has embarked upon the musical journey set forth by their Dr. Kennedy. The chorus has picked up exactly where their last concert series left off, showing greater maturity and understanding towards the pieces. Dr. Kennedy has been an inspiration and her exceptional knowledge and approach towards the music is evident during each rehearsal, consequently presenting greater passion and dynamics than in previous years. The “Royal Flush” concert series will commence on April 20th, 2011 and included well known pieces concerning royalty as Handel’s “ Zadok the Priest” (Coronation Anthem No.1) , “The King Shall Rejoice” (Coronation Anthem No.2), Mozart’s “Coronation Mass”, Benjamin Britten’s “Choral Dances” from Gloriana, Rutter’s “This is the Day”, Vaughan William’s “Serenade to Music” and “Aloha ‘Oe” by Queen Lili’uokalani.
