The man who voices the iconic video game character Master Chief for the Halo franchise said today that gamers should see the Halo 2 Anniversary edition drop this year, but don’t expect Halo 5 until 2015, according to a report today from GameSpot.

In an interview with Gamezone, Master Chief voice actor Steve Downes said fans of the Microsoft exclusive franchise may be getting ahead of themselves in thinking Halo 5 could drop sometime this year.

“I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5. I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015,” Downes said. “What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2.”

Downes didn’t specify if 343 Studios would be developing either of the two games nor what consoles on which they may launch.

The remarks come just a few weeks after Microsoft quashed any rumors surrounding the game, and a few on different subject, saying, “Any report or listing to the contrary is based solely on speculation and rumor.”

However, Microsoft did let know that a “Halo journey” would begin for the Xbox One sometime before the end of the year.
