A press release by Manchester Police on Thursday, stated that Dean Janggen, 19, of Medfield, Ma. was arrested following a foot pursuit early Thursday morning.
Police said Janggen is charged with Criminal Mischief, Loitering and Resisting arrest.
The release stated that Officer Neil Penttinen was on patrol in the downtown area at approximately 2:15 a.m. Thursday when he observed a male subject on the fire escape at Lamont, Hanley and Associates, of 1138 Elm Street. Immediately upon seeing the cruiser on Elm Street, the man ran down the fire escape and continued running in the opposite direction of where Officer Penttinen had stopped.
The officer immediately yelled to the fleeing subject, but he failed to comply with the officer’s commands and continued to run away from the officer.
Officer Penttinen gave chase and located the subject a second time behind the building and again commanded him to stop. The subject again failed to comply and after a brief foot pursuit, he was apprehended by Officer Mike Caron in the lower parking lot behind 1138 Elm Street.
He was arrested and identified as Dean Janggen.
Further investigation revealed Janggen had been vandalizing the building by spray painting the exterior wall. The graffiti was photographed and will be removed by the City of Manchester Anti-Graffiti Team, which is under the command of the City’s Parks and Recreation Division.
