On December 27th of last year, Massachusetts House of Representatives voted to pass a bill that expands the state’s law requiring a bittering agent to be added to antifreeze to include wholesale containers in addition to those sold at retail establishments.
If signed into law by Massachusetts’ governor, the legislation will eventually prove effective at saving the lives of both people and animals who might be tempted to ingest antifreeze without the bitter additive; antifreeze has a sweet taste if not treated with a bittering agent.
Please be sure to acknowledge the elected representatives who passed this critical, life-saving legislation, including the following individuals, regardless of where you reside:
House Speaker Deleo,
House Representative Kafka,
House Representative, Donato,
House Representative Walsh,
House Representative Speliotis,
House Representative, Kulik, and
Bill Sponsor, Senator Brewer.
And please contact your own elected officials and encourage them to use Massachusetts’ example as a template for drafting, supporting, and passing similar laws in your home state.
