On March 6, 2014, Massachusetts lawmakers vowed to act as quickly as possible to pass legislation that the taking of upskirt photos of women was illegal. The Mass. upskirts photos case has taken an interesting turn according to the Associated Press as the day before, the state's highest court ruled that a man didn't violate state law by taking cellphone photos up the skirts of women on a Boston subway.

According to Yahoo News, Massachusetts lawmakers moved quickly on Thursday to pass a bill that makes the taking of upskirt photos of women illegal.

Right now, they are making sure that any bill they rush through quickly is going to stand strong against any constitutional challenges. House Speaker Robert DeLeo said that lawmakers should push through the bill even without a public hearing.

DeLeo did not know the current laws in Mass. didn't prosecute those that took upskirt photos.

"We want to make sure that we get the language right," DeLeo told reporters. "It's something which appalls us greatly. We're outraged by what has occurred and we want to make sure that these types of action are dealt with in our court system and dealt with swiftly."

The case in question was of Michael Robertson, who was arrested in mid-2010 by a transit police officer. A sting had been set up after Robertson had been reported using a cellphone to take pictures and videos up the skirts of female passengers.

The so-called loophole in the law states that it "does not apply to photographing (or videotaping or electronically surveilling) persons who are fully clothed and, in particular, does not reach the type of upskirting that the defendant is charged with attempting to accomplish on the MBTA."

Lawmakers are working very quickly to get a new bill in place that will make Mass. upskirt photos illegal by the end of Thursday or before the weekend.
