Mass for Inauguration of Petrine Ministry to be held March 19 for Pope Francis

Vatican City: Fr. Lombardi has confirmed on Vatican Radio that the Mass of Inauguration of the Petrine Ministry of Pope Francis I will be held on Tuesday, March 19, the feast of St. Joseph.

Pope Francis was elected on the fifth ballot during the second day of the conclave. He is the first pope to take the name of Francis. He is the first pope from Argentina and the Americas He is also the first pope to be a Jesuit (Society of Jesus).

The crowd in St. Peter's square was filled with anticipation and joy at the announcement of Cardinal Bergoglio to the position of Pope.

Father Lombardi, a fellow Jesuit,. stated that the Ignatian Spirit of Jesuits is first of all to be a servant of the Church. Jesuits consider themselves servants not authorities in the church. He stated that Cardinal, Bergoglio is known for serving.

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Archbishop of Buenos Aries, Argentina, was known for cooking his own meals, riding the bus, living in an apartment, and reaching out to the poor and needy. Taking the name of Francis sends a real message of simplicity, humility, and service to the faithful. St. Francis of Assisi was inspired by God to "rebuild my church".

Father Lombardi confirmed the following schedule:

Thursday, Pope Francis will make a private visit to a statuary of Our Lady. No further details will be given until after his visit.

On Friday at 11 a.m. there will be an audience with the College of Cardinals.

On Sat. 11 a.m. Pope Francis will have an audience with all journalists and media covering the conclave.

On Sunday Pope Francis will recite the Angeles at noon.

The Mass for the closure of the conclave will be at the Sistine Chapel at 17:00. on Thursday.
