‘Mass Effect 3’ developer hints at ‘Mass Effect 4’ gameplay and story (Photos)

Yanick Roy has provided several hints at what to expect for the next game in the “Mass Effect” series, which will presumably be called “Mass Effect 4.” According to a post from the NeoGAF forum on Feb. 7, the studio director at Bioware Montreal revealed that several of the game systems would need to be rebuilt going forward due to them switching to a new engine. In terms of storyline, the follow-up will be separate from the narrative of the first trilogy. However, the choices you made in the prior games could still have an effect on “Mass Effect 4.”

Bioware is currently developing the upcoming title. The studio previously worked on “Mass Effect 3,” which was released by Electronic Arts for multiple systems in 2012. “Mass Effect 4” will be using the Frostbite Engine 2, the same game engine that was used for “Battlefield 3” in addition to the upcoming “Dragon Age 3: Inquisition.”
