Mass Effect 2 12.4GB installation

Many will be getting their copies of Mass Effect either tomorrow or tonight at local midnight launches at participating retailers. Since the Xbox 360 now features the option of game installation to improve load times, which the first Mass Effect does benefit from, many likely will be installing Mass Effect onto their system, too. If you do plan on it, do know that installing both discs will require 12.4GB of HDD space.

For most, this shouldn't prove to a be a major issue, but if you have a smaller HDD, you'll have to make the choice of whether or not faster load times is worth the HDD space investment. You will still need to swap the discs at the designated sections, but the load times seem to be reduced by a few seconds. The total time to install both discs will be around 20-30 minutes, but this could vary from user to user. It's optional and is completely up to you to do, though.

We'll have a full review in the coming days. Stay tuned.

Hahahaha. 12.4 GB mandatory install? 360's processor must be a heap of crap if it needs to offload that much memory to run the game, LOL. Last - gen rubbish.

ME2 is an overrated pile of twaddle anyway, the lack of AAA titles on the 360 mean that everyone thinks it's better than it actually is. IMO Lair is much better. The controls for Lair were superb, anyone who says otherwise is gay with their parents.

BTW, my name is Mark, not Markdouche as many people call me. I do not act like a douche i merely tell it as it is, so don't call me Markdouche just for telling the truth. Lair is better, that's a fact.

Mark...you didn't read that right. The installation is OPTIONAL. You need to stop being a fanboy.
And with reading that comment...you'be been reduced to MarkDouche.

Which would make sense since one disc takes up about 6 GB anyway so having that second disc would add up to a total of 12 GB. So yeah Mark stop being a dumbass. And last Gen rubbish...unless you're from the future, you're still on last gen too even if its a PC.

Sorry about all the posts. Refreshed the page and it posted it again. Sorry guys.

Agreed...Markdouche is an unfair title as the usage of "douche" implies you've been near and inside a vagina other than your own mother's, but then I'm sure she needed to douche regularly so I suppose it's appropriate. anyways back to the issue at hand here, mass effect 2 is outstanding. Mark, if you would like to respond to this comment might I suggest you read it fully (or have someone read it to you) so as to spare yourself another idiotic display. Have fun with lair while you go be "gay with your parent" as you so eloquently put it.

P.S I'm changing your name to "MarkEnema"

Lair is better than ME2? Are you effing kidding me right now? What kind of a troll posts that kind of garbage?

Does everyone forget about the MANDATORY Metal Gear Solid install?

Before you go and trash the 360.. keep in mind they DON'T have to install anything to the hard drive to play the game. As opposed to the following list of titles on the PS3 that require installs...
    Assassin’s Creed——–(Required) 1.3Gb
Brother In Arms Hells Highway-(Required) 2.1GB
Devil May Cry 4——–(Required) 4.83 GB
    Dark Sector ————(Required) 1.2 GB
    Eye of Judgement———(Required) 1.9GB
    GTA IV——————-(Required) 3.3 GB
    GT5 Prologue———–(Required) 5.24GB
    Haze ——————–(Required) 4.0 GB
    Hot Shots Golf 5 – ——(Required) 3.61Gb
    Heavenly Sword——–(Required) 2.1GB
    Medal Of Honor:Airborne-(Required) 1.95 GB
    Metal Gear Solid 4—–(Required) 4.6GB
    Oblivion———————(Required) 4.6GB
    Oblivion GOTY————–(Required) 5+GB
    Ratchet & Clank Future-(Required) 0.42GB
    Resistance: Fall of Man–(Required) 0.22GB

I'm glad I read this - it made me realise I was going to have to free up *even more* HD space.

However the issue for me with Mass Effect 2 is not just quicker load times (though they are important) but avoiding disc scratch. Mass Effect 1 was notorious for this. I was lucky to only get one tiny scratch on my disc - which stopped one side quest from working - but I read of people with much worse scratched discs who couldn't even complete the game.

    @Mark

Haha, you're a blatent and stupid fanboy. You have no idea. My guess is that you are either in the 10-15 age range, or have a low IQ, because it has to be one of them (or maybe both?)
