Masahiro Tanaka is now the $155 million man so the New York Yankees' new starting pitcher is not averse to throwing some bucks out to take a trip. Witness his latest journey aboard a Boeing 787 Dreamliner that the baseball player from Japan chartered in order to travel to New York City.
According to Australia's SBS TV on Feb. 10, the private jet allegedly cost Masahiro Tanaka a cool $195,000. But it was probably worth that much to this baseball sensation who had five in his party, and that didn't include his pet poodle, who was also on board.
On the down side, Tanaka had to endure a heavy snowstorm in Japan that meant an eight-and-a-half hour trip via car to reach Narita International Airport from his Tokyo hotel.
After he arrived, the ball player, who is married to Japanese idol Mai Satoda, held court at Yankees stadium on Tuesday in advance of his trip to Florida for training camp.
And so, as Masahiro Tanaka chartered a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Japan Airlines to hit New York City from Tokyo, he may just be flying commercial for his trip to the Sunshine State. Stay tuned.
