As anyone who loves great coffee alongside their great food (or on its own!) can attest, getting freshly roasted, high-quality beans to grind for yourself is almost an absolute must.  It's much easier, of course, to get those kinds of coffee beans if you have a good local coffee roaster, and in the Knoxville area, in Maryville specifically, there is one: Vienna Coffee Company.

The coffees coming out of Vienna Coffee Co. are consistently quite good.  Their facility is clean and well organized, and they roast frequently, three days a week when it's hot out and five days a week in cooler weather.  That helps ensure a high likelihood of getting a freshly roasted batch, meaning that it's been roasted within the past two weeks, each time it's purchased.  They carry a wide variety of coffees from most corners of the so-called Coffee Belt, that is the coffee growing regions of the world, and both their single estate coffees and their blends are roasted and/or blended to really show off the characteristics of the different kinds of beans.

They also carry a wide variety of organic coffees, some fair-trade, and decaffeinated coffee.  In addition, they do their own in-house coffee flavoring, so for those that like a flavored cup, they might have what you're looking for too!

Vienna Coffee Company's coffees are featured in a variety of local restaurants including, for examples, The Tomato Head in Maryville and Thunderhead Perk in Townsend (click here for an article all about Thunderhead Perk!), where it is always expertly prepared and served, if you're lucky alongside a fantastic homemade scone!  A more comprehensive list of where Vienna's coffee is available is here, including listings for in-and-around Maryville, Knoxville, and elsewhere throughout Tennessee.  You can even get it served at a church in Ohio!  The author frequently talks about Vienna's coffees on the local-coffee heading of his personal blog, The Untrained Gourmet: Local Coffee.

Do check them out.  You won't be disappointed!
