It was one of those horrible accidents that nobody foresees. An Edgewater, Maryland, woman was killed yesterday (Feb. 24) when a car parked on a hill popped out of gear, rolled down the hill and hit her.
According to a report by WBAL-TV in Baltimore, Lee Mahoney was killed near the1700 block of Chesapeake Drive in Edgewater when a parked 2010 Ford Mustang began to drift down the hill, striking her from behind and pinning her underneath. The 23-year-old owner of the car saw his car rolling down the hill, went to the car and started it, backing up without realizing the woman was trapped underneath, police said.
According to the police, the car was parked incorrectly, with its front wheels pointed away from the curb. Investigators are consulting with the Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's office over possible charges, according to the Baltimore Sun.
