Maryland woman charged with leaving dog outdoors to freeze to death

Kristen Leigh Meninger, 27, of the 2000 block of Horns Point Rd. in Cambridge has been charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty involving the death of her pit bull reported Saturday's

According to Dorchester Sheriff James W. Phillips Jr., the dog had been chained outdoors and was found frozen to death on Dec. 12. There was no food or water available for the dog.

The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office website lists the criminal charges filed against Meninger. The charges include:

  • Animal cruelty
  • Inflicting unnecessary pain and suffering on a dog
  • Failure to provide food and water
  • Restraining a dog in a manner restricting it from access to food and water
  • Unsafe and unsanitary restraint of a dog

Meninger is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 27.

If you suspect animal cruelty or abuse, please contact authorities immediately, and be the voice for those who cannot speak.

Rest in peace unknown dog. You didn't deserve such mistreatment.
