Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge this Saturday

Since 1997 more than $13.2 million dollars have been raised for the Special Olympics Maryland by people running into the freezing cold water of the Chesapeake Bay. The 14th annual Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge this Saturday promises to be the best turn out yet. At the time of this article there has been over $2,400,000 dollars raised by the plungers. In the lead with donations Mickey Cucchiella of 98 Rock Baltimore has brought in over $103,300 himself so far and with a day left, there is still time for contributions.

Are you cold just thinking about it?  You don't have to plunge to contribute, you can sponsor one of the plungers and just enjoy the festival! Music, food, and lots of great vendors are sure to make the event fun!

To find out more about the plunge or how you can help please visit their website at plungemd.com

Know someone who is plunging? The slideshow below contains some polar bear stuffed toys that would be ideal gifts to warm their heart and remind them of the wonderful impact their 60 seconds of cold made for the Special Olympics Maryland.
