Maryland man posts photo on Facebook of neighbor's dead dog he shot

Woodburn poses with the dog he shot in a selfie and then posted the photo on Facebook. Viewers are outraged.

Richele Ince and her four-year-old daughter are distraught over the death of their one-year-old dog in St. Mary's County after being shot and killed by neighbor Kenneth Woodburn reported the

An update on the petition site states:

"Update #1 March 19, 2014

I just want everyone to know that it is looking like Mr. Woodburn will be charged. In St. Mary's County Maryland animal cruelty is a felony. If he is found guilty of a felony he will NEVER be allowed to own a gun legally again! That would be great. We still want as many signatures as possible so lets keep it going so that we are able to show a lot of suport....
Thanks again to everyone!"

The case is now being investigated by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department and the St. Mary's County Animal Control.

On March 12, Ince's dog named Tank, who was well-known in the neighborhood and informally known as the mascot of the daycare center on the same street where Ince and Woodburn both lived, was shot and killed. Woodburn allegedly didn't like Tank because the dog would walk on his property.

Before Woodburn shot and killed the dog, he had posted his status on Facebook saying that if the dog came into his yard, “Hey going to dye today [sic].”

The day that Tank was killed, Ince believes the dog was on his way over to the daycare center, where he spent most of his time with the little girl, and may have been lured onto Woodburn's property with treats. According to Woodburn, the dog "charged" him.

According to Opposing Views, a statement from a relative of Ince asked for support with a petition for justice citing the following:

"...before we got to her house, a neighbor named Kenny Woodburn shot Tank and then afterwards he posted a picture of it on Facebook like a trophy....Tank was shot in his side (the side that was facing the house that he was heading away from) and then shot in the head.... To me that just proves that the dog was shot as he was trying to exit the area.... Not only did Mr. Woodburn shoot a puppy (yes Tank had just turned 1 in March) but he also resides next door to a daycare. The direction that he shot was the same direction as the daycare....The outcome that day was very sad but could have been worse..."

Woodburn then took a selfie of himself with dead Tank on his lap and posted the photo on his Facebook page. Viewers were outraged as the photo went viral.

Ince stated Tank was a wonderful dog and didn't have a mean bone in his body; in fact the dog was a favorite at the daycare center where he is now buried. Many of the youngsters cried when they were told that Tank had died.

Rest in peace Tank.
