The Maryland mall shooter has been identified, but the relationship between him and his two victims remains a mystery. There may not be a relationship at all, but the two victims worked in the same store and were targeted by the shooter for some reason.
According to Fox News live on Monday Jan. 27, the motive is still a mystery. The Baltimore Sun reports that the shooter is identified as Darion Marcus Agular. He entered the mall with not only a gun and ammunition, but he also was carrying around some crude homemade explosive devices.
This is why his body remained in the mall for such a long time, as authorities needed to take an “abundance of precaution” in case he had booby-trapped himself to blow up before he put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger. After police investigated the situation it was found that he didn’t have any explosives set to go off, but again, police needed to be sure.
Aguilar killed two employees of the Zumiez skate shop, a store which will remain closed “indefinitely” as the mall opens back up today at 1 p.m. local time. The victims were identified as Brianna Benlolo, 21, and Tyler Johnson, 25.
The police, community and family members of the victims are at a loss for why this happened. It may forever remain a mystery.
