Maryland green events: The Polar Bear Plunge and other events

The Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) is holding the 8th Annual Polar Bear Plunge on Jan. 26 at National Harbor. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Plunge is CCAN's fundraising event, and the proceeds will go to projects that encourage a transition to green energy. ECO City Farms will offer a lecture on winter farming on Jan. 26 at the Even' Star Organic Farm in Lexington Park. The hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants will tour the farm and learn about winter farming techniques. Registration is required and admission costs $20.00. The Baltimore Free Store will be holding a Free Market event at the Roosevelt Rec. Center on Jan. 26. The Market will be accepting donations from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and giving them away from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Free Store promotes recycling and reuse by collecting unwanted goods and redistributing them to people who want them. The Baltimore Green Forum will hold its monthly meeting on Jan. 27 at the Maryland Presbyterian Church. It will run from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This month, the Forum will spotlight Retrofit Baltimore, a project of Civic Works. Retrofit Baltimore guides people through the energy retrofit process.
