Maryland green events: bluegrass concert, open house, and bird watching

The Audubon Urban Bird Watching Walk takes place at Patterson Park on Feb. 23. It will run from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Experts from the Chesapeake Audubon Society will answer questions about the birds. Over 180 species visit Patterson Park each year, and some stay through the winter. All ages are welcome. Visitor should gather at the fountain in the northwest corner of the park. The Irvine Nature Center is holding a volunteer open house on Feb. 23. The hours are 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Participants will learn about upcoming volunteer opportunities and meet current staff and volunteers. There will also be refreshments. The Chesapeake Climate Action Network will present a bluegrass concert on Feb. 23 at the New Embassy Theatre in Cumberland. It will start at 7 p.m. The Grand Ole Ditch bluegrass band will offer a night of "fun, dancing, and fracking education." Visitors will learn about the drilling practice, what's happening in Annapolis, and how citizens can make an impact.
