Maryland dog rescuer arrested for neglecting dogs

A 29-year-old Dorchester County, Md., man was arrested on Thursday and charged with 23 counts of animal cruelty.

According to Friday's Baltimore Sun, Anthony Joseph Geer of Parkville ran the Baltimore Animal Rescue Network.

Conditions found by officials at the "rescue," were apparently far from humane.

According to reports, 18 puppies and five dogs, confined to cages, were seized; three of the puppies were in such poor condition that they had to be euthanized.

The dogs were discovered in a residential property located in the 8600 block of Quentin Avenue.

According to the Parkville-Overlea Patch, Geer is being held on $30,000 bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
