Three Maryland children were scared and unable to identify the source of lights at ground level in their backyard about 9 p.m. on August 8, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
A parent filed MUFON Case # 25168 where witnesses included children ages 14, 12, and 11. The group was walking toward their home after swimming when they noticed four bright lights in their yard about the size of basketballs.
They describe the scene as watching three "outer" lights forming a triangle, with one center light. The lights were "bright and white," but they could not make out an object that they were attached to.
One of the witnesses took four images of the lights. While the lights originally produced no sound, the witnesses report that as the object moved away, there was a "swishing" sound as it drifted across the backyard toward a nearby wooded area and moved out of sight.
"As it took off it turned to the left and seemed to leave a trail of light for just a few seconds," the reporting witness stated. "We were very scared and are not sure what it was."
No town name was given in the public portion of the MUFON report. No images or video were provided. Based on the report, it is unclear whether or not the adult was part of the sighting, or merely filing the report as stated. We assume for this story, that the adult did not witness the event. We assume the images will be made available to Maryland MUFON upon investigation.
The following is the unedited and as yet uninvestigated report filed with MUFON. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or man made. I am writing this on behalf of my daughters: There were three girls involved in the sighting: my daughters which are 14 and 11 and there friend who is 12. They think the whole idea of UFO's are silly and have little to no knowledge on the subject. We were leaving the swimming pool and walking to the celler doors which are about 10 feet away. It was around 9 pm and was almost dark.
We noticed a bright light on the ground in the middle of the yard and looked up. There were four really bright lights just hovering there, they were about the size of basketballs. There were three outer lights that formed a triangle and one in the middle. The lights were very bright and white; we could not make out any details of a plan, ships, etc...
My sister handed me the digital camera (we had been taking underwater pictures in the pool, so we had the camera with us) and we took four pictures. There was no sound except for some kind if wishing noise when it took off. I'm not sure how long it hovered, seconds. Then it slowly drifted across the backyard toward the woods and then took off and was gone. As it took off it turned to the left and seemed to leave a trail of light for just a few seconds. We were very scared and are not sure what it was.

Where are these pictures that were taken?
I live in marydel Delaware and i have seen this typ of "object" or "thing" before it came north west heading south east and was moving very slowly but as it came towards my direction it looked as two lights the four untill 8 lights were visable and i happen to have my sony 990x hand held video camera and have a 5 minute video of this object but what strikes me odd is that as i recorded this object it began to turn and head due west as it turned there are many lights visable on the underside of this craft it has not just happened once but twic which leaves me to think it may be a military plane because of dafb and aberdeen if i can find the video i will try to post it
Hey Rodger have you notice that MUFON's site is not posting all of the reports or displaying all the links to the pics witnesses have sent in?. Whats up with that? twenty to thirty reports a day down to five to ten? I know from experience YouTube is filtering videos of UFOs. The world is abuzz with talk of disclosure and The Introduction.
I can go out side any night and see objects and I Dont mean just a white light traveling in a straight path. I guess it could just be time for the ones that dont want us to know to throw that last hail mary.
BigRUV: I have noticed the decrease in reports; but I am chalking that up to a late summer slow-down. I'm not aware that any reports are not being posted. Not aware that YouTube would filter video - especially if it's copyright free. They thrive on numbers, and most UFO videos go through the roof on numbers. I do agree that the "world is abuzz with talk of disclosure." I do hear from many folks around the country who see UFOs on a regular basis. Let's all work together to get these reported - so that we can study the larger body of evidence.
i was called by phone, by the girls' grandfather, who is a very good friend of mine, at approx 22 minutes after this sighting occured, and living just 5 minutes away, i along with my son, was on the scene approx 27-30 minutes after it occured. i talked with the girls right after it happened and was able to see the 4 pics immediately after they were downloaded from the digital camera onto the laptop computer in their living room. the images are incredible. amazing in content, clarity, and detail. though no outline of the craft can be discerned, there is much valuable information contained and revealed in close examination of the 4 pics. it is by pure luck they had the camera in hand, and were able to get the pics in the short time it was there above their heads. the adult, their mother (2 of the 3 girls), who filed the report on their behalf, was not part of the sighting, rather being in the house at the time of the sighting at approx 9PM. 2 of the 4 pics show 4 very bright lights, slightly varying in intensity, (at least as caught on the digital image),, 3 "outer" lights in a triangle and one light in the center. in the 3rd pic the center light is turned off. in each of those 3 pics, one "outer" light has a distinct greenish hue while the rest are more white or bluish white. from the relative position or orientation of that greenish light in each succesive picture, it can be seen or determined that the craft was slowly turning or revolving while it was hovering above the girls heads. at a rate off approx one full 360 degree turn in approx 75 seconds. or perhaps at some multiple of that rate. the 4th pic shows 2 very bright light trails, one with a much tighter circle of curvature than the other. the distance between the 2 light trails is about 1.6X the distance between the lights in the other pics, suggesting the craft was much closer to them for that initial pic. i say "initial", because the 4th pic was actually taken first, the next pic has just the 3 outer lights, the last 2 pics each show 4 lights. the craft was not at the same distance during the last 3 the pics either, as there is a slight varience in distance between the lights in each pic. that's assuming all 3 or 4 lights belong to one craft. which the revovling lights 'evidence' does suggest. but it is possible, though highly unlikely, that the lights could be from 4 distinct obects moving in unison. it is much more likely it is one craft, with 3 outer lights at the point of a triangle, and one center light. a black triangle UFO that is. whether it is alien or military, in nature and origin, remains to be seen. but the report is true, and in no way a hoax, or attention getting scheme, i can assure you. in fact, at this point they do not want the attention, but rather would like to go on with their lives and school in normalcy.
i have just this evening spoken again with the young lady, 14, who snapped the 4 pictures. she says, as all 3 girls have said from the start right after it happened, the whole episode, from them first noticing the lights on the ground in the backyard beside the pool, then looking up seeing the bright lights right above their heads, then taking the 4 pics, till it streaked off behind the trees leaving bright trails behind for a second or two. .......... it all lasted only a matter of seconds, maybe 15, perhaps 20 seconds at most, with the 4 pics being snapped, or taken in rather rapid sucession, during only part of that duration. her description of the event, ..."they saw the lights on the ground, like a spotlight lit up area, they stopped looked up, saw the bright lights over their heads, not directly above them, but more to the side nearer the trees surrounding the clearing,.the visiting neighbor child exclaimed "what IS that?" then she said to her younger sister, 11, who had the camera in her hand having just picked it up beside the pool, "give me the camera, pointed it at the lights, first click, saw the image appear on the screen, click, having to wait each time between pics maybe 2 seconds for each image to appear on the LCD screen, as a digital camera does, then another click, again waited just long enough for image to appear, and then a final click, and then, it was gone, shot off to the north, leaving behind white or bright streaks or trails of light.(perhaps not actual streaks or trails in the sky, but rather just in the eye, as a very bright light source would do to your vision)"..... so anyway, a total of maybe 10 seconds from first to last pic. OK, well, like any digital camera or camcorder made today, it put a date and time stamp on every pic, along with alot of other information. ...........settings of the camera, mode, exposure, focal length, zoom setting, and so on and so forth. now, where is this all leading? you may have already guessed it. first pic, actual time stamp reading, it was taken at 8:53:24, the next at 8:53:59, 3rd pic at 8:55:00, and last, 4th pic taken at 8:55:31. so...... that's about a half minute between pics 1 and 2, then a full minute lapsed until pic 3, then another half minute till pic 4. with a total of 2 minutes, and 7 seconds actually between pic 1 and pic 4. that's a far cry from the 10 or 15 seconds as remembered by all 3 of the girls. the time stamps from the chip in the camera don't lie. but neither are the girls. they all agree it all happened in a few seconds. not 2 or 3 minutes. which by the way, would have probably seemed like an eternity to anyone staring up at a UFO. but they were there, and that's how they remember it to be. it'd be pretty hard for anyone to mistake 2 or 3 minutes for 15 or 20 seconds. or vice versa. that's a difference factor of somewhere between 6 or 12, if my math is right. that's quite a difference. so where lies the answer to this? perhaps an actual time loss? as has been reported in other instances of close encounters or abductions. i see no other explanation. did time almost stand still for them? they basically lost about 2 minutes, unaccounted for minutes. time that they say didn't elapse, but from all indication, or recordation, by the camera, did.
Is there anyway of posting those pictures here? Also, I live in Maryland. Can you find out where this sighting occurred?

I saw something very similar over my house in New Jersey. I wasn't able to take photos or video, and my fiance and I talked about it for a bit and kind of shrugged it off as there is a military base close to us.
I had never heard of triangular UFOs. Tonight I couldn't sleep and decided to 'Google' "triangular UFOs" and voila!
It's all extremely interesting. I have noticed many strange things in the skies lately.
