Mary Kay cosmetics provide beauty tips to students at local university (Photos)

In preparation of Pre- Career Fair events, the Illinois Institute of Technology hosted their annual Spring Career Fair for their students. Mary Kay graciously accepted being a sponsor to provide makeup sessions and mini-make overs to students prior to attending the career fair. This was the first time ever at the university and students appreciated the services provided.

On February 21, 2013, students were able to stop by the Mary Kay tables from 9:00 s.m.-12:00 p.m. and receive a skin evaluation, select products suitable for their skin type, explore the steps for using the cosmetics and finally receive a clean fresh-face makeup look for a career fair. Three Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants (Camecia Cox, Lolita Buckingham and Janine Dana) were available to walk through the steps and also help familiarize the participants about the various cosmetics to use for their specific skin type.

The primary emphasis was on educating students that business is business and when applying to jobs you must make a positive first impression. The first thing that employers see is as it relates to professional image includes: your attitude, your image, communication, and your job qualifications. So looking the part is an important attribute in helping you get the job.

When asking various participants that stopped by the Mary Kay tables to receive tips and make-over’s, what did they like most about this experience?…one response was” Wow the skin is very important and it is the first thing that people see, I know understand that looking the part gives you the complete package and is important when meeting employers.”

This was a positive and educational event for all that participated. Please be certain to view the slideshow added with this article.
