Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen refer to $600 handbags as 'affordable' (Video)

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen may have very different ideas as to what “affordable fashion” means than many Americans. According to a Jan. 31, US Weekly report, the twin sensations, 26, are introducing a new line of lower priced handbags to their Elizabeth and James brand.

Ashley and Mary-Kate released a $55,000 purse for The Row in 2012. The crocodile-leather bag was covered in prescription pills. Realizing that’s out of the budget for most shoppers, the former child stars have been hard at work on an “affordable” alternative to their pricier designs.

Wallets and smaller items will range from $125 to $395. Purses will be in the $325 to $625 range. The Elizabeth and James bags will be made of lambskin, lizard trim and Italian suede.

Mary-Kate Olsen is proud of the pricing on these bags, saying they are lower priced than bags by Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs and Tony Burch. Ashley added they are also cheaper than Rebecca Minkoff purses.

Would you spend that much money on a handbag from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen?
