Announced by W3 Public Relations on March 5, highly regarded in Ireland, singer Mary Black will be the guest star on the PBS special starring the beloved Judy Collins. The special will begin airing in the U.S. today, March 5. The titled of the program, Judy Collins Live in Ireland, was recorded on September 28, 2013 at Dromoland Castle for PBS broadcast and is scheduled to run on Thirteen NYC, WGBH Boston and PBS affiliates nationwide. The special features Collins singing several of her most loved hits with her favorite Celtick folk songs and stories. Collins invited Mary Black to appear on the special and they duet the traditional Irish folk song, "She Moved Through The Fair."
Mary Black has been performing for over 25 years and is well-known in the Irish public eye, and she recently launched her "Last Call" tour, with concert stops in the UK, Europe, Japan and the US before retiring from touring. The US tour dates will occur in the fall. She has most recently released Stories from the Steeples in 2012. Black has been a dominant force in Irish music, including a wide presence abroad. She has released 11 studio albums, and all have achieved platinum status, and produced numerous hits. She has shared the stage with renowned singers worldwide, including TV shows and recording studios. Her music has spanned in a significant manner globally. Needless to say, Mary Black has had longevity and major success through the duration of her career. She is considered an Irish treasure, as well as a rare and unique talent.
Judy Collins Live in Ireland, including the duet with Mary Black, will be released on March 18 on both CD and DVD.
