Principal photography on Marvel Studios’ latest superhero franchise, ‘Ant-Man,’ began today in San Francisco. The sci-fi film will shoot in California before it moves to its other main location in Atlanta, which serves as the base for the action movie’s production. The latest stand-alone entry brings another of Marvel comics’ original founding members of The Avengers into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
‘Ant-Man,’ which is set to be released in Long Island theaters on July 17, 2015, is being directed by Peyton Reed, who previously helmed such hits as ‘Bring it On’ and ‘The Break-Up.’ Paul Rudd stars as Scott Lang, who’s also known as the title alias. Michael Douglas serves as Ant-Man’s mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, while and Evangeline Lilly is portraying Hope Van Dyne, the daughter of the doctor.

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. ‘Ant-Man,’ which is based on the Marvel comic character first published in 1962, is being produced by Marvel Studios’ president, Kevin Feige.
