On Wednesday, April 9 TVLine exclusively reported that actress Cobie Smulders will be returning to the ABC drama "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." as Agent Maria Hill. Smulders most recently appeared on the series in the pilot episode, to reveal the mystery surrounded by Agent Phil Coulson's recovery.
Smulders will appear in the twentieth episode of the first season, entitled "Nothing Personal," which leaves just two more episodes before the season finale. Agent Maria Hill was introduced in the 2012 superhero adventure film "The Avengers," and most recently played a significant role in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" which changed the future of the Marvel cinematic universe forever.
Hill's appearance in the latest Marvel sequel prompted her return to the series, as she is S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury's most trusted agent. The episode will air in time for May sweeps, and is sure to give the ratings a boost right before the season finale. Hill will be featured heavily in the episode, working one on one with Coulson to figure out the next step.
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC. Tune in to find out the fate of S.H.I.E.L.D. and how Agent Hill fits into everything. Smulders most recently finished playing Robin Scherbatsky on the long running sitcom "How I Met Your Mother," and reprising the role of Hill will be her first return to television since the show ended.
