Marvel movies head honcho Kevin Fiege spoke to MTV News on Jan. 25 and talked a little about Phase 3 of Marvel's movie universe, which kicks off after "The Avengers 2." While everyone knows Edgar Wright is working on "Ant-Man" for the first movie in that phase, Fiege confirmed that "Doctor Strange" is coming as well.
A "Doctor Strange" movie has been in the works for a long time, with it rumored to come in Phase 2, along with titles like "Ant-Man" and "The Inhumans." Not much has been heard of it since, but now Feige said that it is back on the table.
As for "Ant-Man," Feige said that the character lives in the Marvel Universe, but will be very different than the other movies because they are allowing Edgar Wright to tell the story his way. With Wright a master of geek culture, including a fabulous comic adaptation of "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," this is exciting news for the tiny superhero.
While Feige said "Ant-Man" is the only confirmed movie after "The Avengers 2," he did say that Doctor Strange was one of the heroes that is in line to come next. He said that "Doctor Strange" will be very different as well, comparing it to the unique aspects of both "Ant-Man" and "Guardians of the Galaxy."
Doctor Strange was a former neurosurgeon whose arrogance made him despised by almost everyone. After a car accident leaves his hands damaged, killing his career, he sets out to find a cure and seeks out to find "The Ancient One," he proves that he can be a good man and learns the mystic arts, becoming the most powerful magician in the entire world.
