The superstar athletes of the National Basketball Association have always been larger-than-life, but now Marvel's helping ESPN The Magazine push them to heroic levels.
On Friday, October 22, ESPN The Magazine has Marvel Comic's artists and to merge the NBA's best with the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe Every one of the NBA's 30 teams are features in this season kick off issue
Greg Horn was the first recruit to Team Marvel along with artists such as Olivier Coipel, Leinil Franics Yu, J. Scott Campbell, Greg Land, Terry Dodson, Kaare Andrews;
Horn illustrates the lead art of the feature with Kobe Bryant, of the LA Lakers, clutching the Infinity Gauntlet, while also reaching for the next NBA Championship ring are NBA players mixed with Marvel heroes.
The Cavaliers piece, that brought John Romita Sr out of retirement and is a send up of 1967's AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #50 where Peter Parker leaves his Spider-Man uniform in a trashcan Illustrating LeBron James leaving his Cleveland jersey behind as he went to the Miami Heat.
Each and every one of the NBA's 30 teams got equal exposure and their own illustrated page. My favorite was Atlanta's Hawks being assited by Hawkeye!
