Marvel has been taking the world by storm for years in comics and literally with their cinematic universe, most notably THOR. The character has been a mainstay of the Marvel Universe and a core member of the Avengers for as long as most remember, but now they are shaking things up in a highly unexpected way.
There is always an evolution to these characters but here it is going in a whole new direction introducing the latest incarnation of the character who just happens to be female. No longer is the classic male hero able to hold the mighty hammer, Mjölnir, a brand new female hero will emerge will who will be worthy of the name THOR, but wo is she, where did she come from and what is her connection to Asgard and the Marvel Universe?
While fans will instantly expect this to be another one of those alternate stories or gimmick things make no mistake this is the new THOR of the Marvel Universe. This marks the 8th title in the Marvel Universe to feature a lead female protagonist and aims to speak directly to an audience that long was not the target for Super Hero comic books in America: women and girls. While they assure fans that this is not a temporary change, only time will tell if the new Goddess of Thunder will be up to the task to wield Mjölnir, but to hold the mantle of the Mighty Thor. Be there when creators Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman take the God of Thunder in an all-new and very different direction with the new series aptly titled THOR.
