Marvel Comics news: "Iron Man 3" trailer, Joe Mad on Wolverine and X-film update

An armored assembling of Marvel Comics news from March 4th - 6th, 2013!

Official "Iron Man 3" trailer hits the web!

Marvel Studios have released an official full length trailer for May 3rd's "Iron Man 3" via Yahoo Movies and Facebook yesterday. Directed by Shane Black and starring Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley, the trailer showcases Kingsley's villainous Mandarin as well as a smattering of action shots and armors; both for Tony Stark himself and James Rhodes' new Iron Patriot armor. While there is pressure to somehow match the colossal hit of last summer's "The Avengers", it also benefits from "Iron Man 2" being somewhat underwhelming compared to the first film from 2008.

Joe Mad has decided to draw his annual Marvel comic!

Joe Madueira will mark yet another return to Marvel Comics in June when he draws a Wolverine story alongside writer and previous collaborator Zeb Wells. The two last teamed up for "Avenging Spider-Man #1-3" from 2011-2012. The story will reportedly feature an alliance between Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Elektra and has been in the works for nearly a year. What isn't known is how many issues it will be or where it will be published. It could debut as a spare mini-series or it could be featured in one of Wolverine's two ongoing titles. While lateness and long gaps between projects have defined Joe Madueira's career since the 90's, in fairness, his "day job" is making designs for video games.

Yet another vague Marvel teaser!

The latest vague Marvel teaser involves two posters with 52 slash marks in two color schemes. It promises an announcement on March 10th, which is the date of another con. Thus, it is an announcement to an announcement. Well done, Marvel.

Halle Berry returns to the X-Men film franchise!

The title says it all; Oscar winning actress Halle Berry has been confirmed as reprising her role as Ororo Monroe/Storm for the next X-Men movie by Fox Studios, "X-Men: Days of Future Past". The film is being directed by Bryan Singer and includes virtually the entire cast from the past X-Men films such as Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Hugh Jackman and Peter Dinklage. French actor Omar Sy has also been added to the cast, although his role is unknown. The film debuts July 18th, 2014 and is the first of Fox's Marvel licensed films to be produced after hiring Mark Millar as an creative consultant. To date "X-Men 3" is the only X-Men film not to have been directed or produced by Singer, not including any of the Wolverine spin off films.

Latino Review is wrong on "Planet Hulk"

Joss Whedon, writer/director of the "Avengers" films as well as the upcoming "SHIELD" TV show has debunked a rumor started by Latino Review that "Planet Hulk" was on Marvel Studios radar. Considering that Whedon is also a major consultant on upcoming Marvel Studios films, if he says it isn't so, then it isn't so. This doesn't dismiss the notion of another Hulk film in the near future, though.
