Last month at Comic-Con Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel hinted he would disclose his involvement with Marvel Studios at the end of July. By August the actor was able to deliver his promise as he confirmed he would be providing the voice of Groot in Marvel’s upcoming sci-fi flick: Guardians of The Galaxy. No confirmation on who will be playing fan-favorite character Rocket Raccoon. Although rumors are circulating Bradley Cooper may be negotiating with Marvel to portray the anamorphic creature. If the rumor is true it would be very surprising for the actor to provide a voice to a character rather than portray a live-action hero.
In addition to casting news for Guardians of The Galaxy, scenes for the film were shot in Surrey with Michael Rooker (Merle from The Walking Dead) dressed as the character Yondu. The set photos can be seen here, courtesy of Supeherohype.com.
Guardians of the Galaxy is the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, directed by James Gunn from his screenplay, with a story by Nicole Perlman and Gunn. The all-star cast includes Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Academy Award winner Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Academy Award nominee John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, and six-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close as Nova Prime. Guardians of the Galaxy is slated for August 1, 2014!
Moving beyond Guardians of the Galaxy, reports are coming in that actress Elizabeth Olsen is in negotiations to play the Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Presently, Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor Johnson is expected to play Quicksilver the Scarlet Witch’s twin brother. The two characters origins have been altered for the film for copyright purposes and the two new Avengers could be introduced as European/international heroes.
