Marvel Comics has officially announced the upcoming new series that was teased in last week’s mysterious DNA strand teaser image, revealing that Brian Wood and Olivier Copiel will be working on a new female X-Men series due to arrive in April. The new series will feature an all-female roster that includes Storm, Psylocke, Rachel Grey, Rogue, Kitty Pryde and Jubilee. The storyline behind the title will focus on Jubilee as the main character as she takes in an orphaned baby that may hold the fate of the survival of the human race.
“I feel like as far as the X-Men go, the women are the X-Men,” Wood told USA Today. “Cyclops and Wolverine are big names, but taken as a whole, the women kind of rule the franchise. If you look at the entire world as a whole, it’s the females that really dominate and are the most interesting and cool to look at. When you have a great artist drawing them, they look so amazing and always have.”
