Marty Harbin of Tyrone Georgia seeks 16th state congressional seat

This time around Georgia will be looking at replacing both of their U.S. Senators – Chambliss is retiring and Isakson will probably be in the race of his life.

Georgia is ready to wipe the slate clean and begin anew.

Current 16th District Senator Ronnie Chance has announced his retirement last week after ten years in the Georgia State Legislature.

Tea Party activist Marty Harbin is hoping to step in and fill his shoes.

Marty Harbin is a Republican business man and promises the citizens he will fight for less government and more personal responsibility.

“Marty is a native of Atlanta and Owner/President of The Harbin Agency, Inc. He is a graduate of Woodward Academy and a 1977 graduate of Georgia State University. Marty began his insurance career with The Harbin Agency in 1977, and earned his Certified Insurance Counselor designation in 1993."

According to an article published by the Citizen Newspaper, Harbin says that he has been in conservative politics for almost 30 years. He previously served in voluntary positions supporting candidates for state, local, and national offices including Mike Huckabee’s bid for the presidency in 2008.

Mr. Harbin, a native of Georgia, is the founder of the South Atlanta Tea Party, a small business owner – insurance office- and graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.B.A.

The sixteenth district is comprised of Fayette, Lamar, Spalding and Pike counties.

Marty and his wife Debbie are members of Fayetteville First Baptist Church where he serves as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. They have been married for 35 years.
